Home - Summer Family Time
When you get to the empty nest phase, whenever your grown kids come home, it’s simply heaven. Lizzy was able to come home for Mother’s Day weekend. The next month, Lizzy and Hannah came home for a few days. One of our favorite things to do together is to go sailing on the lake. Another favorite thing is trying new eateries in town. So thankful for time together!!
Mother’s Day
cheers!
We tried a new-to-us restaurant, Little Coyote, for dinner the night before Mother’s Day. We loved it!
Lizzy walked in the door and surprised me with these beautiful tulips for Mother’s Day!
We went to church that morning before we went on a….
picnic!
Lizzy and I chose scrumptious picnic foods and drinks the day before and packed them up in my sweet Fortnum and Mason hamper. We used my Mema’s china (because why not?!) and a vintage strawberry-embroidered tablecloth for our lunch at McCoy.
cheers two!
What a sweet, lovely Mother’s Day! The spring flowers were still in bloom and we had a perfect window without rain. So thankful to spend time with our Lizzy and we face timed with our Hannah later that day. We also paid a visit to David’s mom. (Also, if you’ve never tried Poppi, I’d recommend it! I love the raspberry rose and Lizzy chose the ginger lime)
Hannah sent this cutie card to me for Mother’s Day! Don’t you just love receiving a sweet card in the mail!? The chrysanthemum is my birthday flower. The note she wrote inside was a precious gift.
David gave these amazing cookbooks to me for Mother’s Day. I’ve been having so much fun trying new recipes!
June Visit
boat picnic
We had a lovely evening sail with our beautiful daughters and a little sushi dinner on the water. Lizzy had to go back to Nashville the next day. :(
David has been sailing since he was a boy and our first date was on a sailboat on these waters. The girls have grown up on sailboats, so it’s extra special to us when we can go out together when they’re home.
We were able to go out again the next day for a day sail with our Hannah!
my sailor man
precious time together
After our day sail, we went out to eat at Little Coyote, again, in St. Elmo. It is such a fun place to enjoy delicious food and drinks!
They specialize in smoked meats and fresh produce. It’s kind of a mix of hispanic and southwest fare. It’s a super cute, clean, casual place with great service and reasonable prices. We were here with Lizzy on Mother’s Day eve and wanted Hannah to experience it, too. I’d recommend the yuca fries and empanadas. Their tiny, homemade corn tortillas are kinda perfect.
