Travel - Nashville

This is a short and sweet travel rec but definitely worth mentioning! Recently, we helped our youngest daughter move to a different apartment in Nashville. We chose to stay at a new hotel, The Gilmore, in 12 South. Nashville hotel rates are typically high so finding this jewel was a pleasant surprise.

We loved it!

We chose this 12 South hotel due to its close proximity to our daughter’s apartment in Berry Hill and its affordability. 12 South is such a nice area and we were familiar with the surroundings. I didn’t take hardly any interior photos so take a gander at their website for an idea of their beautiful lobby and rooms. The outside spaces are truly special and thoughtful.

courtyard

This lovely, huge space is on the ground floor between the two buildings. I loved this little ginkgo tree!

There are multiple types of seating arrangements in this gorgeous courtyard. I liked the charming umbrellas and the color of the tables and chairs.

The hotel does not have a restaurant so they’ve placed picnic and cafe tables in the courtyard so guests can order take-out from a multitude of restaurants a short walk away. There are peaceful fountains, plantings of flowers and greenery, a cool piece of art on canvas, string lights and a fire pit.

rooftop terrace

They also have a sweet little rooftop terrace, overlooking 12 South. There are several seating options and pretty plantings all around. It would be a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of something cold and watch the sunset.

thoughtful touches

How precious is this?! Each room has a hand-painted tile with a numeral and symbol.

We also appreciated the super comfy bed, a pitcher of filtered water in the fridge to make coffee or tea, the Nespresso coffee maker, and a full kitchenette should you need one. It was very quiet and had everything we needed for one night.

super convenient

The next morning, we walked a few short steps across the street to order breakfast to-go. We have a Frothy Monkey in Chattanooga, our hometown, so we were familiar with the menu. This is the original Frothy Monkey, which opened its doors in 2004. It was busy but it’s a pleasant, casual atmosphere to wait a bit. My husband and I ordered breakfast bagels and our daughter had an omelet. I also enjoyed a delicious, iced lavender latte.

We would definitely stay at The Gilmore again! Even though it’s further away from our daughter’s new apartment, we’d book it anyway because it’s still only about a 20 minute drive to her new place. 12 South is such a fun, quaint, walkable area of Nashville, with plenty of eateries, shops and new bakeries and businesses opening all the time. It’s adjacent to a beautiful neighborhood, with tree-lined streets and charming old houses. The Gilmore does have a parking garage (for a fee) but we found free parking on the street right outside their door. The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. It’s such a reasonable, clean, happy place to stay!
