Crafty - Paper Chains
I found my new favorite “craft”. When my daughter and I were meandering through a new shop in town, she pointed out the paper chains adorning the ceiling and windows. She said they were really “in” right now. I knew the British loved decorating with them but hadn’t really thought about making them myself to use in our home. The new-found love and obsession began. I started with Christmas, moved on to winter, Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day. It’s so easy, inexpensive and festive! I ordered cardstock from Amazon and found construction paper and a paper cutter at Hobby Lobby. I simply cut strips and stapled them together and hung them on our banister, small hutch and mantle. It’s such a fun, traditional, colorful way to add a happy touch to celebrate a holiday or occasion! Warning: once you start, it may become addictive.

I chose red, green and brown for our Christmas bannister, over fresh cedar and lights.
winter wonderland
To celebrate winter, I switched up the Christmas colors for a mix of white and cream for our little hutch.
If you’re curious, the tiny wooden swan is from Shops On Main and the ceramic snowy tree is from Sophie’s.
lovely
The month of love brought in red and pink, of course!
I added my red transfer ware to the brown ones, popped on my Mason Cash cheery red bowl and red candles from Sophie’s (best candles ever). Oh, and Valentine’s chocolate kisses!
lucky
St. Patrick’s Day featured four shades of green, all found on the Emerald Isle, too!
The chains found their way to our mantle, as well. Must have been the leprechaun.
Just a little tip….I found card stock works best but you can certainly use construction paper, too. I attached all the chains either looped on the bannister greenery, corners of furniture and nails (that usually hold the stockings ;) ) I found a place in a closet to store and hang the chains for future celebrations. Can’t for Halloween!
