Nature - April
It’s my favorite month. I look forward to its arrival and dread its departure. The fragrant blooms, varied shades of green leaves, sweet music of tree frogs and crickets, cheerful birdsong and the gentle breeze’s hush of the new tree leaves is simply enchanting to me. Here’s a dose of the beauty of this lovely month, created by our heavenly Father, to enjoy and appreciate.
dogwood
One of the first tree blooms of April reminds me of the cross, as it usually appears near Easter. Some say the dogwood tree was used to make the cross Jesus was crucified on at Calvary. The dark spots on the tips of the petals represent His nail-scarred hands and feet. The white color represents His purity and the center of the flower symbolizes His crown of thorns.

lilac
The scent of this short-lived flower is heavenly!
woodland path
The lacy, delicate spring greens of the forest is fairy-tale-like to me.
fern
I look for these little babies every spring, with their cutie fiddleheads bobbing in the breeze.
iris
These always remind me of my childhood. We had purple, yellow and white irises growing along our driveway. One sniff takes me back to carefree days.
The iris is Tennessee’s state flower.
rosebud
We planted these heirloom climbing roses around six or seven years ago. These buds are such a sweet promise of blooms to come!
oak
Along with the vibrant, colorful flowers, I love the bright shades of green of the new leaves that emerge on the hardwood trees.
peony
One of my very favorites…the peony arrives around Mother’s Day and always makes me think of the opening scene of “My Fair Lady”. This perfectly round bud holds countless delicate light pink petals when in full bloom. Their scent is so unique. The ants think so, too.
