Nature - Early April
April has become my favorite month. This year, it seemed even more enchanting and glorious. Please enjoy these pics and videos taken on the lake and at McCoy.
I love the different shades of green of the trees this time of year!
bearded iris
This shade of pink is just lovely and the scent takes me back to my childhood.
Some of the stray bluebells were holding on in the iris bed.
pine
I love a sunny, blue-sky day but sometimes, when the fog rolls in and raindrops dangle from the trees and flowers, it’s rather enchanting.
rhododendron
This beautiful, native plant thrives on the mountain in different shades of pink and white.
Japanese Maple
It’s hard to tell from this photo, but these rain-kissed leaves are very small on this pretty tree.
I was so surprised to see the tiny lily of the valley blooming!
wild rose
I love finding wild roses along a path. This one is near an entrance to McCoy. It smelled so good!
These red roses were not wild but beginning to bloom in a few of the rose beds.
viburnum
These look like hydrangeas to me but they’re smaller and have a wonderful scent.
ivy
I love the different shades of green and leaf sizes growing up this tree.
fern
I look forward to seeing the ferns emerge from the forest floor every spring. Soon, these green, feathery beauties will cover large patches of earth.
These yellow irises are so sunny and made me smile.
mountain laurel
Like, rhododendron, this native plant grows abundantly on the mountain. These tiny buds will bloom soon, into gorgeous pinkish white flowers.
The trail is getting narrower, thanks to the beautiful foliage filling in on both sides.
annual honesty
I didn’t know what this pretty purple flower was but thanks to my phone, it identified it for me.
gorgeous color of these flame azaleas!
lichen
I will always LOVE lichen. The colors make my eyes happy.
trumpet honeysuckle
How glorious is this archway!? It leads into a children’s garden at McCoy.
I love how these Columbine blooms look like lanterns to me.
chives
Did you know chives bloom? I did not but how sweet are the light lilac-colored petals?!
